The condenser is housed in a rugged die-cast chassis and dent-resistant stainless steel grille screen. The price also perfect for an average consumer to obtain. This mic does not sound harsh in the mid to high range, and has a warm low frequency response without being boomy.
He is raving about it as it's his first piece of kit that didn't get borrowed from a cheap karaoke machine or some such. It is very sensitive and picks up all the noises, so if you are recording in a noisy environment, it can be tricky.

I bought this to record acoustic guitar and vocals and it's great. Once you have everything configured properly and do a bit of recording, you will notice how quiet this mic is, typical of AKG quality.
I have been using on my mac with Perceptoon to do voiceovers and have found the quality to be really good! Rumble and wind noises etc.
